Eliza Bray
Lecturer, Music Journalism *
Elisa Bray holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Print Journalism from the University of Sheffield (for which she won a Johnston Press Bursary) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of York. She has been a music critic and editor on national newspapers and magazines for 14 years. Elisa teaches at BIMM Music Institute London.
After her studies, Elisa was briefly a reporter on a local paper before joining The Independent and being appointed Music Editor in 2007 until 2016, when she became Arts Editor.
She has interviewed numerous rock and pop stars including Mark Ronson, Macy Gray, Norah Jones, Graham Coxon and Foals, and reviewed high-profile gigs and festivals around the world.
As a freelance journalist, she has been published in The Observer, The Guardian, The Independent, i paper, Evening Standard, MOJO and many other publications.
Elisa has judged the Mercury Prize five times, as well as the BRITs and the AIM Awards.
