Announcing… this year’s BIMM Reeperbahn Festival showcase

September is here… which means it’s time for us to announce the incredible artists who will be representing BIMM at this year’s Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg!

Four acts featuring BIMM Berlin students, alumni and tutors – EVVOL, Ed Prosek, MIN t and The Flavians – will be performing at a very special BIMM Reeperbahn Festival showcase at the Spielbude stage from 2.30pm to 6pm on Saturday 20 September.

Not only will this event show just how talented the individuals in our BIMM community are, but it also celebrates the upcoming launch of our new BIMM Hamburg college in October – that’s definitely a lot to get excited about!

So you can learn more about the acts performing at the 2019 BIMM Reeperbahn Festival showcase, we thought we’d list them here for you – and you can check out their latest music videos too.

EVVOL – 5.30pm

Featuring BIMM Berlin’s Head of Music Production, Jane Arnison, this electronic duo are the perfect mix of live instrumentation, futurist electronica, synths and pop vocals. Their music has been played on Berlin’s Radio Eins and the UK’s BBC Radio 1, and their socio-political lyrics tackle issues ranging from immigration to the prison system.

ED PROSEK – 3.30pm

BIMM Brighton Songwriting graduate Ed Prosek has been based in Berlin for several years now. As the son of an opera singer, he hails from a classical background, but Ed’s take on orchestral folk music blends both technical prowess and savvy pop sensibilities.

MIN T – 4.30pm

This BIMM Berlin alumna’s futuristic soundscapes are a mixture of ambient electronica, glitchy samples, progressive hip-hop beats and impassioned vocals. As a solo artist, MIN t makes a huge impression onstage. In fact, this is MIN t’s second appearance at Reeperbahn Festival, having given a stunning performance at last year’s BIMM showcase which went down a storm. Miss this year’s at your peril!

These BIMM Berlin undergraduates have recently completed their studies with us and will be graduating this October. This year has been a huge one for the indie folk–pop troupe, as it saw them hand-picked to perform at Glastonbury Festival by co-founder Michael Eavis when they impressed him in the final of The Pilton Stage 2019 competition, after flying all the way from Berlin to Somerset.

Ed Prosek and The Flavians will also be performing a number of intimate record-store gigs throughout the weekend.
