We’re delighted to announce that three standout acts from BIMM Berlin – YETUNDEY, Min T and Eveline – will share the Reeperbahn Festival line-up this September with groundbreaking international acts like UK singer-songwriter Passenger, Scandanavian songstress Ane Brun and British rap newcomer Octavian.
The acts will perform at a special BIMM live music showcase from 2pm to 6pm on Friday 21st September at popular Hamburg music venue Spielbude.
Hamburg’s St. Pauli quarter bursts to life during the four days of the annual Reeperbahn Festival, now in its twelfth year. A diverse programme of German and international artists will perform 600 concerts across 90 venues in and around St. Pauli, meaning there will be a gig at almost every turn. This year’s festival also boasts art exhibitions, literature and film events, as well as a conference for members of the music and digital industries. The winner of the ANCHOR international music award, recognising emerging musical talent, will also be announced.
There’s something for every taste in the jam-packed Reeperbahn Festival programme and the BIMM live music showcase not only gives up-and-coming artists the opportunity to perform in front of key industry players, it also connects audiences with some electrifying local acts.
Trilingual rapper YETUNDEY is just one of these. She creates her own musical bomb from afro beats, trap, UK grime and hip hop, with a dose of lyrical humour and satire thrown in for good measure. Cheeky, loud and provocative, YETUNDEY regards her often-political music as ‘epic tribal hip hop’ and is a force not to be missed.
Performing a wholly different sound, MIN t artfully merges dance, minimal and ambient music with live drums, guitars and sweet vocals. She regularly contrasts futuristic industrial arrangements with warm melodies, and as one of BIMM Berlin’s first graduates, has helped to shape the Institute’s unique sound – a sound at the very heart of Europe’s electronic scene.
Having wowed crowds at Reeperbahn 2017, Eveline will this year treat the audience to a sample of their upcoming EP, due for release in October. The duo’s breathtaking sound fuses indie, pop and electro. Celebrated by the city’s press, radio and music blogs, and fresh from a German tour with Adam Lambert, these guys have their fingers firmly on the pulse of electronic Berlin.
Alternative rockers Ripe & Ruin are former students of the Hamburg School of Music – and will also perform at the BIMM showcase as special guests.
