20 years of extraordinary opportunities
20 years… We can’t believe how fast it’s gone. But we’re very proud to say that we’ve helped thousands of our students find jobs within the industry and facilitated a plethora of valuable industry opportunities.
Work placements with artist management companies, work experience at major festivals, full-time jobs at major labels and everything in between – we couldn’t be prouder of seeing how our students continually flourish and love creating the best opportunities for them.
Festivals festivals festivals…
Our students have worked at hundreds of festivals and collected valuable work experience – from stage managing and sound engineering to artist liaison and marketing. We’re talking about Glastonbury, 2000Trees, ArcTanGent, Creamfields, The Great Escape, Electric Picnic, Liverpool Sound City, Slam Dunk, Reeperbahn, and many more. In these roles, our students get the opportunity to see how festivals really work.
I guess it all comes with the territory of being Europe’s best-connected music college…
The numbers speak for themselves
Over the last 20 years, we’ve hosted, organised and facilitated:
- 500 End of Term and Live & Lyrical gigs with over 10,000 performances
- 6,000 work placements
- 2,500 masterclasses
- 4,800 live performance workshops
As if that weren’t enough, our students have also created 75 BIMM albums jam packed with the finest talent that BIMM has to offer. They’ve also run record labels and produced magazines, demonstrating their entrepreneurial skills and helping BIMM bands branch out and reach new audiences. We’re always delighted but never surprised at how amazingly well our students work together to realise professional projects, bringing the best out of each other.
Scholarships, jobs and careers fairs
We know that performance is not the route for everyone. That’s why we’ve invested so much time and effort in building careers services that work for everyone and get real results. Our dedicated, in-house recruitment service, Talent Match, has over 800 employers registered and has landed 00s of students jobs in the creative sector so far. It’s a growing network that employers and students love.
Our specialist careers fair, WRKiT, takes place in Manchester and London each year and brings together some of the music industry’s most reputable record labels and artist management companies. What’s more, we were over the moon to launch a scholarship in 2022 in collaboration with Spotify: The Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship, which will give underrepresented groups a chance to have their studies funded whilst receiving extra benefits too.
Over the last 20 years, BIMM has grown into a glorious community of like-minded creatives who support each other and work together. We can’t get enough of our students’ achievements and are already planning the next 20 years of extraordinary events.
