Becky Jones
Songwriting Lecturer
My name is Becky, I'm a songwriter, singer and music artist. A trained vocalist, I began my artistic music path inspired by the glitch, rave and electronic music of the early noughties. Picking up an early copy of Ableton Live and a copy of FACT magazine, I began fiddling with MIDI and working out how to compose, arrange and perform indie electronic music live. Having never learned an accompanying instrument formally, I came to composition entirely from an electronic/midi/triggering perspective as a vocalist. This led me through a decade of experimental projects using my voice to compose, from setting up a 50 piece choir to sing my arrangements (collaborating with Brian Eno, Ty, Beardyman, Schlomo) to touring the UK and Europe with my own band. In 2010 I joined Groove Armada to co-write tracks on what became a Grammy Nominated album (Best Electronic Album 2010), and I toured much of the world as a frontperson with them for the next 15 years. So far this year in my solo guise as Saint Saviour, I released my fourth album and my song 'I Remember' currently appears in a major British Airways TV advertisement campaign.
