David Sheppard has been a music and culture writer since 1995. He edited The Saatchi Gallery Magazine: Art and Music between 2008 and 2018. His freelance writing has appeared in everything from The Observer and Q to Literature Alive and College Music Journal, and he remains a regular monthly contributor to MOJO magazine.David is also an acclaimed author. Among his books is On Some Faraway Beach: The Life and Times of Brian Eno, originally published by Orion in 2008. David also works as a book editor; among his commissions was Julian Cope’s collected music writing, Copendium, published by Faber and Faber in 2012. As a professional publicity writer, David has penned artist press releases, promotional texts and sleevenotes for high profile clients including John Cale, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Hugh Masekela, Tony Allen, Moby, Stereolab, Autechre and Martin Creed, among innumerable others. When not writing about music, David is making and releasing it, as a solo artist, in the instrumental groups State River Widening and Ellis Island Sound and latterly in the guise of Snow Palms, a modern composition project for electronics, woodwind and tuned percussion.
