BIMM students shine at The Great Escape Festival
Brighton was buzzing as The Great Escape 2025 brought thousands of music fans, industry professionals, and emerging artists to the South Coast – and BIMM music students were right at the heart of the action.
Our presence at the festival included a range of BIMM-led events across Brighton. We hosted a campus-specific BIMM Brighton showcase in the upstairs room of Patterns, spotlighting the city’s vibrant local talent. Acts included Slag, Chitchat, Ava McKechnie, Bighead Tea Drinkers, and Goetia, who each presented a reminder of why BIMM Brighton is such a force in the UK music scene.

At Dust, our official BIMM showcase – in collaboration with DIY – brought together a diverse range of acts from across our campuses. A full-capacity crowd was treated to powerful sets from Berlin’s Kings and Pills, Dublin’s Martina and the Moons, Birmingham’s Leah Wilcox, Bristol’s Guy, London’s Finn Mungo, and Manchester’s Bayboards, each showcasing the array of talent within the wider BIMM community.

Over on Jubilee Street, our official BIMM busking stage brought live music to the city’s streets, drawing spontaneous crowds throughout the day. The open-air setting gave artists a chance to make their mark right at the centre of the festival. Just around the corner, the Alt Escape stage at North Laine Brewhouse featured an exciting mix of acts from across BIMM.

Alongside the artists performing, students also played key roles behind the scenes – running production, managing stages, creating content, and supporting the event from every angle.
We also hosted a rammed networking lunch at the Leonardo Royal Hotel’s Promenade Lounge. Here, BIMM artists performed acoustic tracks to a room of industry pros while students enjoyed the opportunity to network and learn from the university’s business partners and other music industry insiders.
The Great Escape has always been a standout moment in the BIMM calendar. It’s a place for discovery – not just for the audiences seeing our students perform, but for the students themselves, as they gain experience, build connections, and step confidently into the creative industries.
From festival stages to industry networking events, real-world experience is built into everything we do at BIMM.
Our strong industry connections help turn the classroom into a launchpad – giving students the chance to perform, collaborate, and grow as working artists. Find out more about where a BIMM education can take you.
