BIMM announce line-up for official Great Escape stage 2024

8 March, 2024

We’re excited to continue our partnership with the Brighton-based, multi-venue festival, The Great Escape.

As the festival’s lead education partner, we offer many work experience opportunities across the long weekend, including artist liaison, stage management, lighting assistants, stewards, social media positions and everything in between. These opportunities will be announced nearer the time.

This partnership with The Great Escape gives us the opportunity to curate our stage line-up, and this year is no different. We’ll take over one of Brighton’s newest venues, Dust, on Friday 17 May, 12-4pm. Our official showcase features performances from Wavy Abyss, Eighty Eight Miles, Kathlen Morrison, Immy, Neckbreakers and Emilio.

We’ll also provide the soundtrack to a networking brunch on Friday 17 May at Leonardo’s Hotel.

Now, let’s meet the artists:

The Wavy Abyss

The Wavy Abyss is a creative production team founded by Kiz Kaprice and Phoenix Jones. This group harnesses their self-expression by communicating to their audience through music, art, design, fashion and filmmaking.

Eighty Eight Miles

Eighty Eight Miles is a colourful, infectious indie-pop-rock group from the Midlands, UK. With their name originating from the hit movie trilogy Back To The Future, their inspiration includes Fleetwood Mac, The Beach Boys, Blossoms, and Declan McKenna.

Neckbreakers

New generation indie group Neckbreakers innovatively combine unpredictable and catchy riffs with soul-wrenching lyricism. Their music spans a wide range of genres, which rings true on their debut single, ‘Fly Fly Fly’, released in 2022.

Immy

Immy is a 19-year-old musician based in Bristol who grew up in a family of singers and musicians. Her music is influenced by many genres, including funk, soul, jazz and, more recently, electronic sounds and dance music. Her latest release, ‘Out Of The Blue’, is a collaboration with neo-soul artist Stefan Mahendra.

Kathlen Morrison

Kathlen Morrison is a Berlin-based duo expressing themselves through vivid imagery and haunting harmonies. Onstage, they use their talents on bass and guitar, while their catchy melodies and honest lyrics will leave you wanting to hear more of their stories.

Emileo

Emileo is an experimental electronic artist from Berlin, chosen by Sinéad O’Connor for the BA Commercial Modern Music Scholarship from BIMM Dublin, where she is currently based. She supported Mundy and Tolü Makay on their Ireland tours and has performed in Dublin’s landmark Olympia Theatre and Cork’s Opera House as a special guest to Tori Amos.

Many other BIMM students and graduates have been announced over the weekend, including Annie Mieke, BODUR, Hana Lili, Hongza, Lana Lubany, Noah and the Loners and more!
