Helen Kirwan
Head of Student Services BIMM Manchester
Helen leads the Student Services team at BIMM Music Institute Manchester, managing six Student Support Officers, two Learning Support Officers, five Receptionists and a Counselling team. Helen's team provide 1-1 study skills support and run drop-in Academic Study Skills sessions. The student support team also assist students with any queries or issues they might experience during their student journey - from accommodation, mental health, staying healthy, budgeting and settling in to the city.
Helen's first involvement with education came from language teaching in France. She then moved into professional skills training at Pitman, taking on the role of Training Manager, providing pastoral support, learning support and disability advice. Helen loves live music, gardening and traveling the world. She is a member of several professional associations such as the the AMOSSHE network for Heads of Student Services in Higher Education and National Association of Disability Practitioners.
