BIMM Institute Bursaries – The Fair Access Fund

BIMM Institute is committed to promoting equal opportunities for all applicants, and all students, and we actively seek to recruit a diverse student body that is reflective of the wider community.

We believe that a diverse student body provides for a creative and dynamic community and this is in line with the ethos and mission of the BIMM Institute.

We aim to actively support access to our courses from groups of applicants who are underrepresented in Higher Education or face financial challenges and hardship.  Some of those applicants may require more support than ever given the challenges presented by the global pandemic of Covid-19.

We want a level playing field and equality of opportunity and so we have set up The Fair Access Fund to ensure students are supported during their studies.

What does The Fair Access Fund aim to do?

Every student has different needs and The Fair Access Fund aims to support successful BIMM Institute undergraduate applicants in the following ways:

  • Financial support: Financial support for tuition fees and maintenance costs including rent
  • Course material support: Instruments, software, hardware and reading materials to support engagement with a Degree course
  • Engagement support: Specific support needs including counselling, additional learning support or help to access Disabled Students Allowance (DSA)

BIMM Institute will provide you with a contact who will help develop bespoke support for you. The amount of support that you are awarded will depend on your circumstances, but as a guide, we are looking to support students in the following ways:

  • Financial support:
    • Low household income fund of up to £1,500 per annum
    • Care leaver fund of £3,000 per annum
  • Course material support of up to £400 per annum
  • Engagement support package of up to £400 per annum

Applicants will qualify for one element of this fund which best suits their needs. Applicants can and will be considered for more than one component, but only when exceptional circumstances have been taken into consideration

Applications for support in excess of these amounts will be considered.

Being part of this scheme does not differentiate you from other successful applicants, and receipt of support will be confidential.
