Week of Wellbeing: Feb 26 – March 2
To coincide with University Mental Health Day on March 2nd, the student support team at BIMM Brighton have put together an entire week’s worth of events running from Monday 26th February. Here’s a complete rundown of what’s happening during our Week Of Wellbeing (WoW)!
The week is designed to focus on the ‘Five ways of Wellbeing’ to enhance positive mental health and the BIMM Community. Each day will have a different theme (Be active, Connect, Give, Take notice and Learn) with activities and community actions to enhance personal wellbeing. We fully encourage you take part in as many events as possible, even if you feel your mental wellbeing is in tip top condition!
Mindful Meditation Drop – Every Day
Discover the power of mindful meditation with daily audio drops onto the BIMM Soundcloud narrated by Student Services staff. Remember to check the streaming site each day of the week for new content!
Breakfast Club – Mon & Thurs -BIMM West common room / Tues – Clarendon Centre
The most important meal of the day is served. Come and get a good nutritional start to the day and notice the difference. You will be asked to reflect on your concentration, energy and mood levels pre-and-post a healthy breakfast.
Wellbeing Walks -Mon / Thurs (11am & 3pm)
Find BIMMer Peace – Sign up on Moodle and come for a walk and connect with the great outdoors and yourself! Members of the Student Services team and Harvey the dog will guide you through some mindfulness exercises whilst enjoying some of Brighton’s great outdoor spaces. Lasting approximately one hour, we will be heading off-campus by foot. So please come prepared for the British weather. These walks are weather dependant and in extreme conditions cancellations may be necessary.
Sport & Leisure Sign ups – Mon – (all day) – BIMM West common room
Fancy joining a football, netball or MMA club? Come and register your interest on Moodle and lets get BIMM Extra Curricular up and running!
Brewshack Sessions – Tues / Fri – BIMM West yard
Come and have a chat, discussion or debate with some specially selected guests at the Brewshack on the yard. Coffee and free-thinking in abundance with a line up to be announced.
Speak Your Mind – Tues / Fri (4pm-5pm) – BIMM West 17
Share your experiences in a student-led safe space to discuss or observe any challenges, issues or concerns that may be discussable. A Student Support Officer will be present to ensure boundaries and safety are adhered to.
Meditation Yoga – Tues (4pm) – BRICCT

Drop In Clinics Launch (Tues)Bookable tutorial slots with our in-house Student Support Officers on their areas of specialism. Sign up via Moodle.
Rap Jam with Audio Active – Tues (7pm) – BIMM East
This is an awesome freestyle rapping workshop with Audioactive’s Tom Hines. Come flex your lyrical prowess in this fun and engaging session.
Brewshack Bake Off for MIND – Weds (all day) – BIMM West Yard
Bake a cake, buy cake, eat cake. It’s as simple as that, and it’s all for a good cause. The only downside is the waistline! All for charity – MIND.
Vending Machine Take Over – Weds (all day) – BIMM West Common Room
Out with the rubbish and in with goodies. Come and enjoy healthy products at tiny prices with all proceeds going to MIND.
Charity Sign Ups – Weds (all day)- BIMM West Common Room
Nothing beats the warm feeling you get when you’ve contributed to a worthy cause. Come get involved with a charity, with charitable ideas appearing in the common room.
‘Sounds Good’ Musicians Meet Up – Weds (1.30pm-3pm) – Dead Wax Social
Fancy having an informal hook up with like-minded musicians to talk about anything playing on your mind? Local session keyboardist Sam Wilson will be hosting this friendly get together. Come and get acquainted!
Circle Music Workshop – Thurs (2pm-3.30pm) – BRICCT

Invisible Illness Discussion Panel – Thurs (11am-1.30pm) – BIMM House Studio 1
The stigma surrounding invisible illnesses needs to go. Living with an ‘invisible’ condition is hard, and speaking about it is even harder. Need some inspiration? Join Naz and her panel of people who all live with a range of invisible illnesses. They will be discussing the issues around their conditions, misconceptions, wellbeing, social media and more!
The Coaching Principles with Lorna Payne – Thurs (6pm) – BIMM East
Do you suffer with stress? Anxiety? Stage-fright? Do negative thoughts, feelings and emotions affect your experience of life? If so, come along to this inspirational workshop with ex-student Lorna on the Three Principles, guaranteed to be life-changing.
Wellbeing Fair – Friday (12pm) – BIMM West Common Room
This is your chance to meet representatives from some fantastic support groups who offer help, advice and services for the betterment of your wellbeing. Guests will include the Youth Advice Centre (YAC), Pavilions, who will be addressing themes of drug and alcohol abuse and Help Musicians UK.
Mental Health Discussion Panel – Fri – (3.30pm)
BA3 Songwriting student Amelia Barnard hosts a varied panel to discuss the state of mental health in the music industry with a special Q&A – VIP Guests to be announced!
