The Radiophonic Workshop Visits BIMM Brighton!

24 October, 2014

Pioneers of electronica, the Radiophonic Workshop was originally created as a sound effects unit for BBC Radio and TV programmes and was responsible for the iconic sounds and theme tune of Doctor Who and many more.

Mark and Roger discussed the origins of the Radiophonic Workshop and some of the ground-breaking equipment that they used. They played some incredible sound effects and then demonstrated how household objects (like a ruler or a knife on a chopping board) had been used to create them. Terrifyingly, they even showed how to create the sound of a Dalek!

A huge thanks to Roger and Mark for a brilliant and thoroughly enjoyable masterclass!
