Fontaines D.C. return to BIMM Institute Dublin for virtual careers event
Here at BIMM Institute Dublin, we’re excited to announce two free virtual events for later this month, offering a deeper insight into potential careers within the music industry.
Hosted by broadcaster Kate Brennan Harding, the events will feature BIMM Institute Dublin graduates Fontaines D.C., who have been at the heart of Ireland’s flourishing music scene. They will discuss their journey through BIMM, the vital experience and knowledge they gained, and the doors it has opened for them in their careers to date.
We will hold the virtual events on the following dates:
- Friday, 22nd January at 5 pm with Fontaines D.C. Book your place here.
- Thursday, 28th January at 5 pm with Gemma Bradley (BBC Radio 1), Saoirse Kavanagh (Warner Music), Peter Walsh (Ultra Publishing & Ultra Music), Lyndsey Connolly (Music Therapist), Joe Furlong (James Vincent McMorrow), Niamh White (PIAS), and Catherine Smyth (Official Charts). Book your place here.
The two free virtual events will be open to those considering studying music or exploring the music industry as a career. They will feature talks from highly experienced lectures and music industry professionals.
We are lucky to have Fontaines D.C. join us on Friday, 22nd January, returning to BIMM after their massive successes since graduating. The band went from strength-to-strength after releasing their debut album “Dogrel”, which was nominated for the 2019 Mercury Prize and Choice Music Prize. They released a follow up in the summer of 2020, “A Hero’s Death”, which was nominated for the prestigious Grammy award in the Best Rock Album category.
On Thursday, 28th January, we will be joined by Gemma Bradley. After less than a year presenting on BBC Radio Ulster, she was announced as Huw Stephens’ replacement, presenting the esteemed BBC Introducing show on Sunday nights. An array of music industry professionals will join her, as they answer as many questions as your heart desires.
Innovation at BIMM Institute Dublin
Dublin has become a hub of artistry and creativity and in recent years. At BIMM, we have provided a pathway for graduates to find work in the music and creative industries, springboarding our students and alumni into the world of contemporary music through educational experiences that explore technique, music culture, craft, technology, and business thoroughly and creatively.
At BIMM Institute Dublin, we now offer a BA (Hons) Degree in Commercial Modern Music: a Technological University Dublin (Formerly DIT) validated BA where students can specialise in guitar, bass, drums, vocals, and songwriting. The deadline for applying to the BA (Hons) Commercial Modern Music degree programme is the 1st of February through the CAO system for September 2021 enrollment. We also announced a selection of brand-new programmes to our already varied roster of courses. These include our BA (Hons) Music Business (the first degree of its kind in Ireland), and the MA Popular Music Practice.
