Fontaines D.C.

Artist

Shortly after graduating from BIMM Dublin, Fontaines D.C. signed with Partisan Records. They soon began presenting the 6 Music Recommends show on BBC Radio 6 and received support from various industry tastemakers, including the magazines DIY, Dork and So Young.

On the road, the band supported Shame on their UK and Irish tour and took on America with Bristol quintet IDLES before performing at SXSW in Austin, Texas and performing a series of blisteringly good sets at Glastonbury Festival.

The band’s debut LP Dogrel was released to critical acclaim in April 2019 and received a nomination for the highly coveted Mercury Music Prize. After being nominated for NME’s Best New Act in the World, the band released their second studio album, A Hero’s Death, which entered the UK and Irish album charts at no.2. Pitchfork described the album as “heady, funny and fearless” and scored it a very respectful 8.1/10.

The band’s third studio album, Skinty Fia, was released in April 2022 via Partisan Records. The album’s title refers to an old Irish saying, which translates to ‘the damnation of the deer’. Both the title and the cover art allude to the extinct Irish elk, also known as the ‘giant deer’. Skinty Fia became the band’s first no.1 album in Ireland and the UK, and soon after its release, the band received NME’s Best Band in the World Award.

In August 2024, Fontaines D.C. released their latest album, Romance. The record debuted at no.2 in the UK and even managed to hit the US charts, too. Like A Hero’s Death before it, the album was nominated for Best Rock Album at the Grammys – and its standout single ‘Starbuster’ gained a nomination for Best Alternative Music Performance.

Currently touring across 24 countries, and with two massive outdoor concerts planned for next summer (at Finsbury Park and Manchester’s Wythenshawe Park), Fontaines D.C. is on the way to superstardom. We’re incredibly proud to have played a part in their story.
