BIMM University Launches The Fair Access Fund for courses starting in 2024
At BIMM University we believe that a diverse student body makes for a more creative and dynamic community. That’s why we are committed to promoting equal opportunities for all students, and we actively seek to recruit a diverse student body that is reflective of the wider creative community.
With that in mind, we are excited to announce the launch of The Fair Access Fund, a bursary initiative aimed at encouraging students from underrepresented and financially disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue their dream careers in the music industry.
Impact and Success of The Fair Access Fund
Last year, The Fair Access Fund made a huge impact, supporting well over 600 students. This comprised 590 bursaries and 136 smaller access awards, providing crucial financial assistance to students facing various challenges and hardships.
What makes The Fair Access Fund so important is that it assists underrepresented higher education students, including those from low-income backgrounds, care leavers, care-experienced individuals, estranged students, those with disabilities, mature students, and students from the Global Majority.
Specific Support for BIMM Music Institute Students
The Fair Access Fund is instrumental for BIMM Music Institute students, offering financial aid packages of up to £1,500 per academic year, the fund provides support for living expenses, acquiring course materials such as books and instruments, and accessing resources such as the Disabled Students’ Allowance for additional learning support.
“Coming to BIMM as a mature student with no external financial support, The Fair Access Fund at BIMM has been essential in aiding my studies. Not only did it allow me money to buy new instruments and software to aid my studies; but it also helped me to live within my means whilst studying. The fund helped me with paying bills such as rent and electricity whilst also allowing me to get better quality food and more variety of food whilst shopping throughout my studies. The Fair Access Fund is a great asset for BIMM students who need it and I couldn’t recommend or appraise it more!”
