BIMM students join Duff Press at Tons of Rock
It’s festival season, and every year BIMM students can be found working and performing at some of the most exciting events on the global music calendar.
Kicking off this year’s festival opportunities, three students from three BIMM locations travelled to Norway for four days at Tons of Rock, gaining first-hand experience at one of Scandinavia’s biggest rock and metal festivals.
Leela from BIMM London, Dani from BIMM Manchester, and Jessica from BIMM Berlin worked with music PR agency Duff Press, helping the team capture content and support its social media presence throughout the festival.
On top of working at the festival, they had the opportunity to explore Oslo and visit some iconic sites. They even got the chance to visit Neseblod Records, formerly known as Helvete, a record shop with an important place in the history of Norway’s black metal scene.
The students were given access to the festival’s press area, where they spoke with members of the Tons of Rock team and learned more about the work involved in delivering an event of this size.
Working with Duff Press gave them all the opportunity to develop their content skills in a professional environment while seeing how a major festival is promoted across its digital channels.
One of Dani’s videos from the festival also went viral after she captured the moment Limp Bizkit brought a young fan onto the stage.
The opportunity was secured with support from BIMM University’s Creative Futures team, which works to connect students with meaningful professional experiences across the creative industries.
By helping Leela, Dani, and Jessica step into a live festival environment, the team gave them the chance to apply their skills in a professional setting and gain a clearer understanding of where those skills could take them after graduation.
