BIMM graduates impress on The Voice UK with four-chair turns
BIMM Music Institute graduates Teodora Sava and Diogo Ferreira both appeared on the latest series of ITV’s The Voice UK, securing four-chair turns during their Blind Auditions and earning places on will.i.am’s team.
Representing BIMM London and BIMM Bristol respectively, both singers impressed coaches will.i.am, Kelly Rowland, Sir Tom Jones, and McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, who share a coaching chair on the show.
Teodora Sava – BIMM London
Romanian singer-songwriter Teodora Sava, who studied BA (Hons) Popular Music Performance and Music Business at BIMM London, appeared on the show on 12 September.
Performing RAYE’s ‘Oscar Winning Tears’, Teodora delivered a powerful rendition that convinced all four coaches to turn their chairs. After hearing their pitches, she chose to join Team will.i.am.
Teodora has been developing her career as an independent artist, writing and producing her own music with influences spanning R&B, pop, and jazz. During her time at BIMM, she was also selected to attend a BBC Introducing Live workshop at the iconic Maida Vale Studios in London.
She later progressed to the show’s Battle Rounds, performing Teddy Swims’ ‘Bad Dreams’ alongside fellow contestant Sonna Rele, before departing the competition.
Diogo Ferreira – BIMM Bristol
BIMM Bristol graduate Diogo Ferreira made his first appearance during the series premiere on 22 August, performing Kodaline’s ‘All I Want’.
His performance earned him a four-chair turn, with all four coaches competing to secure him for their teams. Like Teodora, Diogo ultimately chose will.i.am as his mentor.
Originally from Portugal and now based in Bristol, Diogo began his musical journey singing at school before busking around the UK and pursuing his studies in vocal performance.
Following his Blind Audition, Diogo faced vocal group Triple Threat in the Battle Rounds, performing Shaboozey’s ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’. He was subsequently selected as one of three contestants from Team will.i.am to progress to the semi-finals.
Diogo will compete for a place in the final when The Voice UK returns on Saturday 24 October at 8.35 pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
Congratulations to both Teodora and Diogo on their achievements, and best of luck to Diogo in the next stage of the competition!
