BIMM Music Institute Freshers’ 2025
Freshers Week 2025 is officially a wrap! Across all BIMM locations, new students were welcomed with a packed programme of gigs, fairs, workshops, socials and parties designed to help them settle in, meet new people and dive into their local creative communities. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from this year’s Freshers Week!
Brighton
Brighton opened Freshers Week with The Big Welcome at Komedia and The Big Gig at Concorde 2, where student and alumni acts Slag and Congratulations delivered high-energy performances, impressing the fresh faces in the crowd.
Later in the week, we hosted a glowing UV Party at Revenge which saw everyone dancing deep into the night.
The week was rounded off with our Wellbeing and Freshers fair where students could discover all the societies and clubs we have, and much more.
Manchester
Manchester’s programme was stacked, with BIMM Live: Freshers Gig at Club Academy, featuring performances from our beloved Bayboards, Cutscene, Bets and many more. This was followed by the buzzing BIMM Live Afterparty at Big Hands.
After more events like yoga and Mario Kart tournaments, we wrapped up the week with The Big Welcome at the Dancehouse Theatre, marking a perfect finale to an exciting week.
London
London’s Freshers Week kicked off with a lovely Welcome Breakfast and a Speed-Friending event to help our fresh faces make some fresh friends and meet new people.
We also hosted the infamous annual Boat Party, which is always a huge highlight! The boat had our students cruising down the Thames dancing against the backdrop of London. What a dream.
Bristol
Bristol opened the week with a lively Fresher’s Open Jam at The Canteen, where our freshers could pick up an instrument and make music together. A perfect activity before the year ahead!
They also had their amazing BIMM Live at Thekla, where 20 student bands took to the stage for a showcase aboard the city’s iconic boat venue.
The BIMM Bristol Student Association also did a fantastic job hosting exciting events including a pool tournament and their own jam session.
Dublin
Dublin kicked off Freshers with a spectacular Welcome Event at Vicar Street on September 10th. The daytime celebration featured performances from graduates Bricknasty and Tonedeaf, alongside current student Sarah Brooki, who has had a tremendous year.
The festivities continued with an afterparty in Whelan’s Parlour Bar, where the DJ Society kept the vibes going late into the evening.
Birmingham
Birmingham students dived straight in with the Big Fresher’s Challenge, a city-wide scavenger hunt that sent students all over Birmingham City Centre seeking out interesting spots, taking photos and winning prizes.
With other events like bowling at Roxy Lanes in Digbeth, open mic nights and film screenings, their week hosted an amazing variety of events perfectly suited to all students.
Berlin
Our Berliners were treated to a range of engaging activities like music theory workshops and an introduction to DAWs, as well as wellbeing workshops and games sessions.
The induction ceremony was the highlight of the week, with the induction concert showcasing some huge talent at the iconic Festsaal in Kreuzberg.
