It won’t be difficult to find a BIMM Dublin band this summer. Look toward any of Irelands’ (and some UK) summer music festivals and you’ll probably see at least one showing their skills on stage. Take a look at our Summer Music Festival Calendar to check out where and when you can see some of the best new talent around.
YouBloom Dublin: Friday 13th – Sunday 15th Multiple Venues Dublin City
YouBloom is a yearly music conference and festival, not only featuring discussions and talks with some of the most influential figures in the music industry but also showcasing some of the best hot new bands from Ireland and Europe. This year, you’ll be able to find BIMM Dublin bands The Eskies, Fox.E and The Good Hands,Redwoods, Fanlights and New Secret Weapon on the YouBloom stage along with many other fantastic musical acts.
Sea Sessions: Friday 27th – Sunday 29th Bundoran, Co. Donegal
Do you love surfing just as much as you love music? Then Sea Sessions, located up north on the scenic main beach in Bundoran, Co. Donegal, is the festival for you. You’re just as likely to see surfing stars along with the musical stars at this truly unique festival.
While BIMM Dublin doesn’t boast any surfing stars (that we know of) you will be able to find New Secret Weapon and Pyramid Hill amongst the musical stars.
Westport Festival: Saturday 28th – Sunday 29th Westport House, Westport Co. Galway
Should you find yourself out west and in the idyllic surrounds of the historic Wesport House, chances are you are at the Westport Festival of Music and Food, which promises delights for all the senses. There you’ll have the chance to see BIMM band RudyTrixX as part of a truly stellar line up.
Light Colour Sound (LCS) Fesitval: Friday 4th – Saturday 5th Shankill Castle, Co. Kilkenny
Despite only being in its second year, the Light Colour Sound Festival is already getting a name for itself as the go to for alternative festivals, incorporating music, food, culture, literature, art, comedy and even more than that. Not only all of that, but if you find yourself in the idyllic surround of Shankill Castle you’ll hear the melodious sounds of BIMM Dublin bands Oak Hollow, New Secret Weapon, The Yips and Indigo Eye.
Groove Festival: Saturday 5th – Sunday 6th Kilruddery House, Bray
A little closer to home, just a short trip on the DART line you’ll find yourself in Bray and at Groove festival, where, amongst an exciting musical line up, you’ll also find The Eskies.
Swell Festival: Friday 11th – Sunday 13th – Arranmore Island, Co. Donegal
Swell Festival is a brand new summer festival taking place in the remote and stunning surroundings of Arranmore off the coast of Co. Donegal. A not-for-profit venture, the BIMM Dublin performers featuring over the weekend include MYTH, Jet Set Radio, The Yips, Color//Sound, Carrie Haskins and Blades Club.
Knockanstockan: Friday 25th – Saturday 26th – Blessington Lakes, Co. Wicklow
Knockanstockan has grown exponentially over the last few year, becoming one of the most popular and talked about festivals every summer. Set amongst the lakes and mountains of Blessington in Co. Wicklow, festival goers can always count on an eclectic and exciting variety of acts. This year BIMM Dublin bands Vernon Jane, The Yips, The Eskies, New Secret Weapon, Overhead, The Albatross, The Wood Burning Savages, Christian Collins and Phazam Haze number among that exciting line up.
Castlepalooza: Friday 1st – Sunday 3rd Charleville Caslte, Tullamore, Co. Offaly
In the stunning and historical surroundings of Charleville Castle (where you can camp at the castle) you will find the Castlepalooza Music and Arts Festival. Featuring an eclectic mix of live music, art and other forms of entertainment such as cinema, burlesque and lots more, Castlepalooza has quickly become an important date on the Irish festival calendar.
Amongst all of the delightful madness, you will find BIMM Band Blades Club showing their talent.
Indiependence: Friday 1st – Sunday 3rd, Deer Farm, Mitchelstown, Co. Cork
If you head down to Cork, you’ll be able to see the alway eclectic event that is Indiependence. As part of that eclectic line up, you’ll be able to find BIMM band Color//Sound playing along side many other exciting musical acts.
Sunflowerfest: Thursday 22nd – Sunday 25th Tubbys Farm Hillsborough Co. Antrim
If you’re looking for a truly family friendly festival experience this summer, head on up to Tubby’s Farm in Hillsborough Co. Antrim for a weekend of music, arts and entertainment. You’ll also be able to find BIMM Band Fox.E and the Good Hands entertaining the masses along with many others.
Electric Picnic: Friday 29th – Sunday 31st Stradbally Estate, Co. Laois
Arguably Ireland’s most popular music festival, Electric Picnic is an yearly event not to be missed however, may of the smaller stages have yet to announce their line-up, so we’re going to hold off until all the news is out there.
What we do know for sure though, is that BIMM Dublin tutor Cathy Davey will be in attendance at My Lovely Ranch, with many of her furry friends from the My Lovely Horse animal rescue. Make sure to drop by to say hi to her and her pals.
