BIMM Institute Dublin – Coronavirus advice and guidance

30 September, 2020

Welcome,

First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to extend a very warm welcome back to all our students, it’s been too long! I would also like to take this opportunity to say welcome on board to all our new students commencing studies with us in academic year 2020/21.

Given the current uncertainty created by COVID-19, as College Principal, I thought it would be helpful to send a message to all returning students, new students, as well as applicants for the next academic year 2021/22. For our part, we will try to keep all students and applicants fully informed in terms of the steps BIMM is taking to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of our curriculum and the admissions process as possible.

Curriculum Delivery

While we continue to adhere to all government and health authority guidance we are fully committed to delivering the high-quality student experience that BIMM Institute Dublin is known for and we are very much looking forward to welcoming our current students back and our new students into our buildings and to the exciting BIMM Dublin community.

Our approach to learning and teaching has been informed by the latest government guidance as we move to the start of Term One. Everyone will be aware at this point that Dublin is now on Level 3 within the Government’s Framework for Restrictive Measures, until October 9th. As previously explained to all current students and the incoming cohort of new students, our approach to teaching for Term One prioritises practical tuition as being on campus and the less practical elements remaining online.

Health & Safety

BIMM Institute Dublin has been working through a COVID-19 risk assessment process over the past number of months and we’ve based decisions on government, health authority and sector advice and recently made a statutory declaration as a COVID 19 Secure organisation. BIMM Institute Dublin undertakes to keep all our students and staff safe whilst in our college buildings. We have put significant time and work into our risk assessments and have considered how to make buildings safe, identified revised COVID-19 room and studio occupancy levels, how we safely recover our core activities and how to ensure a safe environment for our students. We can also assure everyone that we will review our risk assessments on a regular basis.  If you would like to see the full College risk assessment, please speak to your College Principal or Head of Estates and Facilities.

As part of BIMM Institute Dublin’s COVID-19 mitigations, we are asking you- our students- to become our partners in working to keep all of our creative community safe, healthy and risk-free. We are asking you to commit to working with us and to do everything you can alongside us to ensure full adherence to COVID-19 Health & Safety protocols to ensure we create a safe environment for all during this period.

To play our part in the college/student partnership to keep everybody safe and risk-free, we will be asking all students sign up our Covid-19 Health & Safety Charter (PDF) at the beginning of Term One.

Induction

Alongside our long-established programme of new student activities, we are developing an enhanced online induction programme which will begin prior the commencement of Term 1 and run for a number of weeks providing early access to teaching staff, networking opportunities with other students both new and existing, and details of our exciting schedule of masterclasses and events.
