International Welcome Scheme

Settle into life at BIMM University

The International Welcome Scheme provides opportunities for new international students to meet new people, settle into life in a new city and country, and to immerse you into BIMM University life from our calendar of social events.

First year international undergraduate students and current second year domestic and international mentors will be paired up based on their shared interests. After meeting at our first social event, mentors will help you with settling into university and your new city, and answering any questions you might have.

*Details on how to apply will be posted here soon.

Mentors

This programme offers a great opportunity for second-year students to:

  • Support incoming international students to settle into life at BIMM and their city.
  • To learn and experience other cultures, countries, and traditions.
  • To build an international network and make friends.
  • Develop a range of employability skills and enhance your CV.

This programme is all about making new friends and learning more about diverse cultures.

BIMM Students, work experience

Mentors and International mentees will be required to complete an online application. We will then match each mentee with a mentor according to similar preferences or special requests where possible.

All mentors will be required to attend a short briefing session in advance, so that expectations are outlined, and any queries answered.

A welcome event will be organised where mentees and mentors can meet in person and become acquainted. You will also meet students from other BIMM University Colleges.

This scheme runs throughout the first two weeks of semester 1.

Mentors and mentees will be required to make regular contact with each other, and this can be via telephone, social media, e-mail or in person. We recommend that mentors and mentees meet in person, twice in the two-week period. At the end of the two weeks, mentors will receive a monetary voucher as a thank you for being involved in the scheme.
