Philip Giouras

Journalist

BIMM London Music Journalism Graduate (now known as Music Marketing, Media & Communication) Philip Giouras is the editor of music site + print publication The Perfect Tempo, alongside being BIMM’s very own Web Editor.

Philip Giouras graduated in 2020, having studied what is now our BA (Hons) in Music Marketing, Media & Communication course. Following the completion of his degree, he has gone on to write for publications such as The Line of Best Fit and Gigwise.

At Gigwise, he’s reviewed countless albums as well as spoken with artists such as The Staves and platinum album-selling BIMM alumni James Bay. Through his own website The Perfect Tempo he has spoken with Khruangbin, Dean Lewis and Holly Humberstone as well as gaining press access to festivals across the world, reporting from Haven in Denmark, Festival No.6 in Wales, Bestival, and All Points East regularly in London.,

During his studies, Philip completed work placements at Someone Great PR in which he shadowed esteemed publicist Katie Malcolmson and spent a month at renowned culture publication DAZED working on issues that included artists such as Frank Ocean and Lil Nas X. He was also involved in the relaunch of BIMM London’s student magazine LDN.

Inspired by his time learning about print publications from renowned lecturers in the field Jerry Thackray and Jo Kendall, Philip took these skills and worked alongside fellow London Journalism alumni Charlie Hall and Nargis Borhan to set up a print publication ‘For Your Consideration’. Having just released its fourth issue, Philip has secured coveted cover interviews with the likes of Laura Marling, Self Esteem and most recently Brit award-winning festival headliners Foals.

Here is what Philip had to say about his time at BIMM:

“Coming from a working-class background, I was the first person in my family to go to university. BIMM made it possible for me to believe I could take that step. I was new to the music industry and despite how my blog was flourishing I was keen for mentorship and direction. BIMM offered me all of that and more. I can’t thank the lecturers enough for the guidance and opportunities I received. I could never have gone on to achieve what I have so far without the skills and connections I made at BIMM.”
