Graduate Naomi Forbes plays alongside Cat Burns at BRIT Awards
We are proud of our BIMM Institute London graduate Naomi Forbes, who played alongside Cat Burns at this year’s BRIT Awards.
Naomi joined Cat Burns to perform Burns’ single ‘Go’, taken from her 2022 EP Emotionally Unavailable. The single was nominated for Track of the Year alongside The performance at London’s O2 Arena comprised live orchestral and choral elements, complete with a harpist and Naomi behind the kit.
The 43rd edition of the BRIT Awards was hosted by Mo Gilligan with the ITV2 coverage presented by Clara Amfo, Maya Jama and Roman Kemp. The award itself was designed by Nigerian-born London-based artist Oluola Slawn, famed for his cartoon-esque spray-on-canvas style.
BIMM Institute Dublin graduates Fontaines D.C. picked up their first International Group Award with their second nomination.
Naomi Forbes said of the awards:
“Playing this year’s BRITs ceremony was a breathtaking experience. I’ve always wanted to play at the O2 Arena, so I was extremely grateful to God once the opportunity arose. I was lucky enough to have been recognised for my videos on my social media platforms and was then put forward by a friend already involved in the industry.”
BIMM Institute London Principal, Simon Colam, added:
“It’s always a proud moment to see a BIMM Institute London graduate perform at one of the biggest nights in the UK music calendar. Having heard Naomi perform just the other week at our Lecturer Band Night as a graduate guest, it was wonderful to hear her again, this time at The BRIT Awards with Cat Burns. Since graduating with first-class honours in 2021, Naomi has built a successful freelance career applying her brilliant creativity and musicality. We congratulate Naomi on this huge career achievement and look forward to the next.”
