BIMM musicians on NPR’s iconic Tiny Desk

19 January, 2026

NPR Music’s Tiny Desk series has become a staple of stripped-back live performance content, showcasing a hugely diverse range of raw, intimate sets from the world’s top artists.

Sabrina Carpenter, Dua Lipa, Mac Miller (R.I.P), Pink Pantheress and IDLES are just a few of the artists who have performed behind the desk at NPR’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Amassing millions of views per video, music lovers from around the globe flock to see their favourite artists perform versions of their favourite songs, with the platform’s audio engineers helping to preserve the honesty and intimacy that Tiny Desk has become so well known for.

Among the many performers featured on the Tiny Desk stage, BIMM musicians have fulfilled their bucket list moments on the iconic NPR  show.

Andrew McKinney, course leader in Performance at BIMM London, recently joined Pulp on bass for their Tiny Desk performance. He has been touring with the band as part of their global ‘Here Comes More’ tour, supporting their 2025 album More, performing at major UK arena shows and North American stadium dates.

Another BIMM-linked presence came from the dynamic world of rock and alternative music with Nova Twins’ drummer Jake Woodward.

He wrote on Instagram:

“It was an amazing/nerve-wracking day, and I’m very happy that I got to be a part of it.”

Finally, Birmingham associate lecturer Suzi Dian features as a vocalist with Robert Plant’s Saving Grace, performing four songs from their new album Saving Grace.

These performances reflect the calibre of artists and educators within the BIMM community, and the growing impact they continue to make across internationally respected platforms.

We’re extremely proud of everyone featured here and hope to see many more of our community behind the iconic desk.
