BIMM Institute wins big at Birmingham Music Awards 2020

15 December, 2020

BIMM Institute Birmingham were awarded Best Music Education Provider at the Birmingham Music Awards 2020 (BMAs). It’s such a proud moment for us!

Birmingham takes pride in its music scene, creating opportunities for musicians and music professionals alike. And the Birmingham Music Awards are no exception. They believe in giving a platform to young musicians and those responsible for allowing the musical landscape to thrive. Birmingham Music Awards are about rewarding these achievements, hard work and dedication.

Providing a platform for these emerging and established artists is fundamental in creating a sustainable future for Birmingham’s music scene. Having both emerging and established artists share this platform also creates opportunities that allow for future collaborations of epic proportions. This makes the BMAs more than an award ceremony. It’s a community where artists are given the opportunity to empower and support each other’s art.

Antony Greaves, College Principal at BIMM Institute Birmingham, had this to say about winning the ‘Best Music Education Provider’ award for 2020:

“We’re all extremely proud of what has been achieved at BIMM Institute Birmingham in three short years, and the Birmingham Music Award for Best Music Education Provider is testament to the hard work, dedication and passion that is apparent in every student, lecturer and member of staff.

“This year has been particularly challenging for everyone as we adapt to a global pandemic, always striving to move forwards. This makes the timing of this award even more valuable and appreciated.

“I look forward to continuing our work with the Birmingham music industry in 2021 and continue supporting our students as they integrate into the music scene both locally and nationally. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this success.”

Celebrating success for BIMM Birmingham’s The Novus

BIMM Institute itself weren’t the only winners on the night. The Novus, who attend BIMM Institute Birmingham, also won the award for Best Music Video. This caps off a good year for The Novus, who have recently completed a socially distanced UK tour.

Kris Tomkinson, Head of Careers and Industry at BIMM Institute Birmingham had this to add:

“Huge congratulations to BIMM Birmingham students The Novus on their win at this year’s Birmingham Music Awards. 2020 hasn’t been without its challenges for all musicians and The Novus are a shining example of how to create, innovate and push on through!

This year, they have managed to complete a sold-out socially distanced UK tour and create some incredible performance assets, bringing their world-class live show and energy to your front room truly inspirational!”
