Bristol’s reputation for producing the country’s hottest DJs, MCs and sound systems is alive and well, with one former BIMM student leading the charge.

Luke Gardna is one of BIMM Bristol’s hottest prospects, and it hasn’t taken long for the industry’s tastemakers to brand him a ‘superstar in the making’, following regular airplay on BBC Introducing.

The West Country MC, who is currently signed to local label Boom Sound, has been making waves with his forthcoming single, ‘My Show’, which features fellow label-mate and acclaimed producer, Kreed. The track recently premiered on Huw Stephen’s BBC Radio 1 show to plenty of fanfare on social media.

The soon-to-be-huge MC was also kind enough to give us a shout out on the airwaves. “Everyone at BIMM Bristol got a mention last night on BBC Radio 1 before the premiere of my forthcoming single,” he revealed.

Gardna’s dominance is backed by his recent win at the We Love Jungle Awards – he took home the gong for Best Breakthrough MC. So, what can fans expect from Gardna in the coming months? Soundboys beware, as Gardna will be bringing his spectacular mix of jungle, bashment, dancehall and grime to several high-profile festivals later this year, including Bristol’s stellar Love Saves The Day.

Don’t miss the MC’s appearance at The Great Escape in Brighton. We’ve hand-picked him to represent BIMM Bristol at our annual showcase, which attracts huge crowds and industry taste-makers.

Gardna has been putting the hours in at the studio lately so you can expect new material very soon from his debut EP.
