Richard Jupp

Drums, Essential Styles, Studio Musicianship, Ensemble Lecturer *

Richard Jupp teaches Drums at BIMM Institute Manchester. He is the co-founder, songwriter, and drummer in the award-winning band Elbow, with whom he performed and recorded for over 25 years. In that time he toured the world playing at all of the major music venues, festivals, arenas, and stadiums. The band has been nominated for/won several major music awards including a BRIT, NME, Ivor Novello, and Mercury Music Prize.

Elbow has featured on several Film Soundtracks and has collaborated with The BBC concert orchestra and The Halle Orchestra. Rick has done lots of session work, working alongside music producers and sound engineers with new and exciting emerging talent and also established International artists.

Rick has a special interest in drumming as (music) therapy, he is patron of The National Autistic Society and offers one-to-one drum lessons at home in his specially designed drum shed. Rick has taught drum Masterclasses at The UK Drum Show (2017), Salford University, and others.
