Phil Baxter
Diploma Songwriting Programme Leader
Phil is the Programme Leader for the Songwriting Diploma at BIMM Institue London. He is a talented singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer based in South West London. He has over a decade of experience as an educator, working independently and for organisations such as Yamaha Music Schools and Apple. He holds a masters level qualification in Learning & Teaching from The University of Sussex and he has written songwriting and theory courses for music colleges across Europe.
As a performer and recording artist, Phil has performed at many of London’s top venues including The O2, BBC Television Centre and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. He has co-written with diverse artists signed to Universal and Sony Music. He spent two years as the guitarist and musical director for afrobeat/pop artist Aadae, with whom he played several major UK music festivals, as well as performing at the XXI Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. He is currently releasing an album with his rock band The Damage.
