Course Leader, Music Business
Maha has a broad range of experience within the music industry as an artist and record label founder / manager. Her self-released second album GRIT, charted at Number 1 in the UK Rock Albums Chart and Number 5 in the UK Independent Albums Chart. She is a double award winner in the UK Songwriting Contest and winner of the International Rock Award, with her work having received support from BBC Radio 1, LATV, 6 Music, The Guardian, Metro, Fresh on the Net, Wonderland, Classic Rock and radio stations worldwide.
Travelling several countries with her band, she has experience navigating events of all sizes, including Download, Camden Rocks and Rebellion Festivals, BBC Introducing Stages, London 2012 Olympics, and headlining at Isle of Wight Festival.
Maha has travelled to the US, Japan and Germany representing UK music as part of British Phonographic Industry (BPI) initiatives, leading to synch publishing with Audi, Progress Wrestling, FIFA World Cup, EFL, England Cricket and Tour de France.
Maha holds a PhD in Psychology, and as an academic has created work on mental illness and creativity. Her latest research, supported by Arts Council England, has helped highlight barriers to progression for women in music with suggested interventions.
