Joe Kinton

Drummer

BIMM Music Institute Brighton graduate, Joe Kinton, studied Drums on our Professional Musicianship course. Today, he is the touring and recording drummer of BLOXX.

Not long after finishing his studies at BIMM Music Institute Brighton, Joe auditioned and secured himself the position of touring and recording drummer for Chess Club Records and SB Management signees, BLOXX. This opportunity has led to Joe touring the UK and playing a host of festivals, including Reading and Leeds Festival, Neighbourhood Weekender and Truck Festival.

He has also recorded multiple music videos, taken part in photoshoots and released a debut album Lie Out Loud, which had singles playlisted by BBC Radio 1 and singles chosen as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record In the World. BLOXX have featured on New Music Friday UK – one of Spotify’s largest playlists – and been on the cover of various Spotify editorials, including The Indie List and Peach.

Having had print and online writeups in Dork, DIY and NME, the band’s most recent achievement comes in the form of selling out the first of Banquet Records’ socially distanced shows.

Joe had this to add: “My two favourite lecturers, Pat Garvey and Preston Prince, helped me improve in key parts of my playing to give me the confidence to go out and seek opportunities such as this for myself.

“So far, this has been the most exciting period of my life, and I cannot wait to resume it in a post-Covid world, however that may look.”
