Sounds of Success: February 2025
Our students and alumni have been making waves in the music industry, and we’re excited to share their latest achievements with you.
In our Sounds of Success series, we collect inspiring stories from alumni across all seven campuses, showcasing their accomplishments and the amazing opportunities available at BIMM. This month, we’re celebrating multiple Grammy nominations and wins, standout performances, and major career milestones.
A Grammy win for Gaetan Judd
We’re delighted to announce that Gaetan Judd, who studied BMus Popular Music Performance at BIMM London, has just won his first Grammy. The album Bob Marley: One Love (Music inspired by the film) won Best Reggae Album, and Gaetan is listed as Associated Performer on the WizKid track ‘One love’. Huge congratulations, Gaetan.
Nonô’s music featured in a Samsung advert
The BIMM London graduate Nonô, known for her unique style of Brazilian-influenced pop, has recently had her track ‘ALÔ’ used in a Samsung ad. The song has also gained attention as part of the official soundtrack for the new EA F1 game. With her career going from strength to strength, we can’t wait to see what she does next.
Fontaines D.C. nominated for International Artist of the Year at the BRITs
In addition to two nominations at the Grammys – Best Rock Album (Romance) and Best Alternative Music Performance (‘Starburster’) – BIMM Dublin alumni Fontaines D.C have been nominated for the prestigious International Group of the Year award at this year’s BRIT Awards. A win would place them among iconic bands like U2, Foo Fighters, and The Killers. We wish them the best of luck.
Mar!k is a MOBO UnSung finalist
Congratulations to BIMM Birmingham alumnus Mar!k, who is officially part of the UnSung Class of 2025. Dejeanté Hinks tours with Kinky Boots
Guitarist and musician Dejeanté Hinks has successfully made the transition from pop to theatre and is now touring with Kinky Boots. The Olivier, Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical, starring Strictly Come Dancing’s Johannes Radebe, is currently touring the UK and Ireland, hitting venues like the Theatre Royal Brighton, Birmingham Hippodrome, and Cliffs Pavilion in Southend-on-Sea. What an amazing achievement for our BIMM Manchester graduate!
Victor Ray is one of Amazon Music’s Artists to Watch
Since graduating from BIMM London in 2021 with a degree in Professional Musicianship, Victor Ray has been carving out a successful path as an R&B artist. From busking to performing in wedding bands, all his hard work is paying off, as he’s now been recognised on Amazon Music’s Artists to Watch 2025 list, joining the ranks of artists like Lola Young and Wet Leg.
Three nominations for IDLES at the Grammys
BIMM Bristol legends IDLES have been on an incredible run, and their Grammy recognition only cements it. Their 2024 album TANGK earned a nomination for Best Rock Album, while their track ‘Gift Horse’ scored two nods: Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song. With these well-deserved nominations, IDLES continue to show why they’re one of the most exciting bands in rock today.
Toshín opening for Tank and the Bangas
On 26 February 2025, Toshín will open for the American musical group Tank and the Bangas at Festsaal Kreuzberg in Berlin. Led by the talented frontwoman Tosin Bankole, this six-piece band blends soul, R&B, funk, pop and rock, creating a dynamic sound that’s taking the Irish music scene by storm. Good luck Tosin, you’ll smash it!
