Michael Bowes plays sold out shows in NYC
BIMM Brighton’s Head Of Further Education Michael Bowes will soon be performing a series of sold out shows with Punk Rock originators The Vapors in New York City’s renowned live music venue, The Mercury Lounge.
During his star-studded career, Michael has performed with the likes of Nelly Furtado, Joss Stone, Tears For Fears, Amerie, Mario, Heather Small (M People), Michelle Gayle, Black Legend, B.L.O.W and Macy Gray. His latest work as a session drummer, however, has seen him holding down the rhythm section with original UK Punk icons The Vapors.
This term, Michael and the band will be making a rare trip stateside to perform not one, but three sold-out shows at the Mercury Lounge in New York City’s lower east side.
As a city which gave rise to bands like the Ramones, Blondie and Black Flag throughout the 70s and 80s, New York is synonymous with the Punk scene, which is why it makes perfect sense for the Vapors to perform there and of course explains why all three of the upcoming shows are now entirely sold out.
“Touring with The Vapors has taken me to some great places,” said Michael.
“…and this October our sell-out gigs at the legendary Mercury Lounge is no exception. To say I am excited at this prospect would be an understatement. Not only does it fulfil an ambition to play in NYC, but it heralds a step forward in my own ongoing Music Business development. It also represents a great opportunity as an Ambassador for BIMM, to show the world what I have learned and of course to be able to pass that knowledge on to our students.”
We wish Michael and the rest of The Vapors the very best of luck with this run of gigs stateside, as well as the rest of their upcoming tour in the UK.
