Michael Bowes endorsed by DW & Gewa

4 March, 2020

At BIMM Institute, we’re proud of the fact our lecturers are fully engaged with today’s music industry. It means they can pass ‘up to the minute’ industry knowledge on to our students. This is why we’re incredibly pleased to announce that Michael Bowes – Lecturer and Head of Further Education at BIMM Institute Brighton – recently secured an endorsement deal with DW and Gewa Drums.

As a drummer, Michael has performed with an enviable range of artists including the likes of Nelly Furtado, Joss Stone, Tears For Fears, Amerie, Mario, Heather Small, “Pee Wee” Ellis, Michelle Gayle, Black Legend and B.L.O.W.

Most recently, Michael has been thrashing out beats as the drummer for UK punk legends The Vapors, with whom he completed an intensive 22-date tour across the US during the summer of 2019.

In 2017, Michael secured an endorsement deal with one of the world’s most recognisable cymbal brands, Zildjian.  Read more about Michael’s Zildjian endorsement

His latest endorsement deal sees Bowes joining an impressive roster of artists such as Anderson Paak, Dave Grohl and Ben Thompson, and serves as a testament to his drumming skills whilst highlighting the calibre of Lecturers and musicians teaching at BIMM Institute.

Speaking about his most recent endorsement deals, Bowes said: “I was blessed to have DW supply all the drum kits and hardware for the ‘Lost 80s tour’ of the USA, from East to West coast. I love the DW products and have used them for many years because they give me the reliability and quality I require, as I am a very physical drummer and need a product that can handle the rigours of my playing style.”

He continued: “DW Drums have been used by some of the greatest drummers in the world and I am honoured to be a part of the DW family and an ambassador for the DW brand. Thanks to all at DW and GEWA for some seriously impressive gear.”

Life on the road

Throughout 2020, Michael will be hitting the road with The Vapors once again as they support From The Jam’s UK tour. In the summer, they’ll play another Lost 80s Live tour of the USA before completing their own headline UK tour – 40th anniversary New Clear Days – in the Autumn.

We couldn’t be more pleased for Michael and look forward to hearing all about his upcoming tours during which he’ll gain yet more valuable experience to pass on to our students in Further Education at BIMM Institute Brighton.
