Metallica’s Rob Trujillo coming to BIMM London

8 March, 2016

On Thursday 10th March we welcome musical giant, Mr Robert Trujillo of Metallica, to join us at BIMM London for a special Masterclass session that will no doubt prove to be a major highlight of the year.

Robert has played bass guitar with the mighty Metallica since 2003, but this is only one part of a truly impressive musical CV. Robert was a member of the seminal crossover metal group Suicidal Tendencies, as well as Infectious Grooves, the funk metal supergroup featuring former members of Excel and Jane’s Addiction. He was also a member of Ozzy Osbourne’s band, as well as Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell’s solo band. In addition to Metallica, Robert is also part of the supergroup Mass Mental alongside Skindred vocalist Benji Webbe, bass legend Armand Sabal-Lecco and Ugly Kid Joe vocalist Whitfield Crane.

This past autumn saw the release of ‘Jaco’, an award-winning documentary produced by Robert. A passion project nearly nine years in the making, Jaco tells the story of the legendary Jaco Pastorius and features interviews with an array of artists including Flea, Joni Mitchell, Sting, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock and Geddy Lee.

As if hosting Rob wasn’t enough, the Masterclass will feature a particular highlight. Lucky BIMM students on the Rock and Metal module have been learning to play the Metallica track ‘Battery’ as part of their practice sessions. Now they’ll get the chance to perform the piece in front of Rob who will be able to give them top tips for performance, straight from the horse’s mouth!

We always strive to put our students in touch with the leaders in their field. If it just so happens that they’re a little bit iconic too, even better! The Rock and Metal crew are practising hard already, and we’re counting down the days to welcome Rob Trujillo to BIMM London!
