Celebrating a successful first year of BIMM’s Talent Match service

13 September, 2022

Last year, our Central Employability team launched Talent Match, a focused recruitment service targeting final-year students and graduates to help them secure professional employment in the creative industries.

And the results for the first 12 months are fantastic; we’ve provided 1,020 students with professional career coaching and support, 184 Full-time work opportunities, 109 professional jobs, 79 industry internships, and we’ve created a database of around 800 companies seeking talent.

It’s safe to say that we’ve worked with some fantastic organisations in our first year, including Warner Music, Sony Music, BBC Introducing, Abbey Road Studios, Sentric Publishing, Rocksteady Music School and The Association of Independent Music. We’ve sourced over 180 exclusive job opportunities for students and graduates across various roles, including marketing, PR, teaching, live sound, publishing, events and management.

The service is accessible and free to use, meaning that employers can find what they’re looking for quickly and efficiently. This helps employers or project owners support their work through access to a diverse talent pool of pre-qualified students matching their skills to the required projects.

Feedback from our industry recruiters has been fantastic. Louis Brown, General Manager for Manchester-based label NQ, comments:

“Talent Match is an important service which in the past has allowed us to tap into a fantastic regional talent to support our growing operation in the North-West of England. It’s never been more important to give talented professionals in early development from the North the chance to gain work in creative industries on their doorstep. Talent Match has done a great job supporting us on this mission”

Graduate Brad Bennett found work at Sony Music after registering with Talent Match. He added:

“Talent Match was a great help to me as a post-graduate looking to get my first full-time role in the music industry. They supported me by bringing new job openings to my attention, providing feedback on my CV/cover letters, and offering guidance through the interview process. This led to me securing a role at RCA as part of the Sony Music Internship scheme. As a Digital & Marketing intern, I’ve assisted marketing managers in their projects, working on the domestic and international roster across various genres. Being at Sony has allowed me to develop my skills and knowledge of the industry as well as broaden my network as I look to progress in my career.”
