BIMM Institute Birmingham announces partnership with SIGNALS Festival

7 December, 2020

BIMM Institute Birmingham has teamed up with SIGNALS Festival: a one-day festival taking place deep in the Derbyshire countryside.

We will manage stage curation duties for the festival’s Bandstand stage, welcoming everyone to the festival as they arrive. It’s surely a fantastic way to start your festival experience. BIMM will also offer students the chance to play the festival, aiming to give exposure to some of our exceptional emerging talent and stars of the future.

Crich Tramway Village plays host to the festival that promises a lot for its modest size, offering a family-friendly backdrop to a strong programme of music, film and arts that are sure to inspire and engage everyone.

SIGNALS Festival line-up

The line-up for the festival is varied, with headliners The Charlatans topping the bill to perform classic hits from three decades of albums. They’re joined by The Cribs, who are still riding the wave of their critically acclaimed eighth studio album: Night Network.

The two-time Mercury Prize nominee Ghostpoet will bring his lyrical prowess and genre-bending, alt-rock inspired sound to the stage. He’s sure to play some new cuts from his album I Grow Tired But I Dare Not Fall Asleep.

Away from the main stage, expect an all-new live version of Tim’s Twitter Listening Parties, which have been a source of huge enjoyment for artists and music fans across the globe during the pandemic. They’re just one of the eclectic offerings at the Tim Peaks Diner: the brainchild of Charlatans’ frontman Tim Burgess. The Tim Peaks Diner is part travelling music venue and part coffee shop where you’ll experience an intimate line-up of music, talks, DJs and more.

There is something for everyone at SIGNALS Festival – whether you fancy rambling the sculpture trail on the Woodland Walk, taking a tram ride into the Derbyshire countryside or stumbling into a good old knees-up round the Festival pub piano. Sponsored by the respected Derby-based independent cinema QUAD, the SIGNALS Festival  QUAD film marquee will offer music-themed documentaries, films and Q&A sessions throughout the day. SIGNALS Festival offers a one-day experience that we are excited to be involved with.

The full music line-up, plus film, arts and kids programmes will be announced in the New Year. Find out more about the Festival here. You can find out more about BIMM’s industry partnerships and connections via our Employability and Careers hub.
