BIMM Brighton alumnus nominated for ‘Best New Guitarist’ 2018

9 November, 2018

BIMM Brighton Songwriting graduate Sam Rushton has received a nomination from Music Radar and Total Guitar Magazine for ‘Best New Guitarist 2018’ for his work with math pop quartet Orchards.

The band released their debut album Losers/Lovers through Oxford-based independent label ‘Big Scary Monsters’ earlier this year to many positive reviews, the majority of which gave high praise to Sam’s trademark playing style which makes use of syncopation, effects pedals, crystalline tone and expressive melodies with phenomenal results.

“It’s awesome to even be nominated for an award like this!” Said the Ernie Ball endorsee.

“I grew up reading Total Guitar and basically taught myself to play from it! I guess it’s nice to be recognised by them as they must come across so many players!”.

We wish Sam the very best of luck in the competition and you can vote for him as ‘best New Guitarist 2018, right here. Voting closes at midnight on 21 November 2018.

You can stay up to date with Orchard’s tours, news and releases via the band’s social media channels.
