BIMM Artists Entertain Crowds at the Women’s Hockey World Cup
The Women’s Hockey World Cup 2018 has come to London and fans are being treated to live music from BIMM Alumni throughout the tournament.
It’s the biggest female sporting event of its kind to take place in the UK, and is an amazing opportunity for a lineup of BIMM graduates to perform to the spectators at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Singer-guitarist James Hunt kicked off proceedings on Sat 21 July, performing to a crowd of over 2000. The festival regular treated crowds to new material from his latest EP, to be released later in August. When we spoke to James about the event he said “It has been magic. Huge stages, crowd singalongs with thousands of people… and the biggest women’s event to be seen in this country so far.” “It’s been a privilege to be part of it.”
Alive-BIMM artists Kelly Barnes and Marcello Michael have also been performing ahead of host nation fixtures, with Marcello opening the England vs Ireland. The musicians join other Alive performers at the event, including guitarist Luca Farone, who recently headlined WIRELESS festival with platinum-selling Grime artist, Stormzy. The event continues an incredible success record for BIMM’s Commercial Performance partnership with the UK’s most successful entertainment agency, Alive Network.
The scheme helps talented graduates to gain access to the music industry, record their own music, and earn money from private event performance. So far, Alive Network has helped earn over £2.6m for BIMM students and graduates.
