BIMM Artist Fund 2018 Winners Announced

18 April, 2018

BIMM are delighted to announce that twelve of our promising Alumni acts have successfully applied for the brand new BIMM Artist Fund.

The new artists from across the UK and Ireland will receive financial funding to support a range of activities including promotion, recording, PR, marketing, touring and more –  vital investment for artists who are looking to break out of their respective scenes and reach larger audiences further afield.

BIMM artist development teams will also continue to offer ongoing support and mentorship to successful recipients as well as those who’ve been invited to apply again in the future.

To be in with a chance of winning the sought-after development fund, nominees were required to have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to their artistic cause – not just as performers, but as self-starters with a proactive approach to developing, promoting and marketing their creative product.

Each BIMM campus had a particularly strong list of nominees this year, meaning that coming to a final decision was tough; speaking of the final shortlist, BIMM A&R Consultant and Managing Director at Raygun Music Julian Deane had this to say;

“The quality of applicants for the first round of the BIMM Artist Fund has been truly exceptional, which made it tough for the panel. But, the chosen twelve acts to receive funds were all able to display real momentum in increasing industry traction as well as proper plans for moving forward.”

He continued,

“There were many artists who we’ll encourage to apply again in the next round in July too, as there were so many who are clearly on the runway, if not quite taking flight just yet.”

BIMM’s Head of Artist Development Jake Shillingford added;

“Most acts enter their most crucial developmental stage after leaving BIMM, it’s when important creative and business decisions are made and Julian and I are thrilled to be able to offer our most talented and hard working alumni the funding and support they need.”

The first twelve recipients of the BIMM Artist Fund are as follows.

Here’s what some of our recipients had to say after hearing the good news.

 “Having been a DIY band for several years , we have had to build a network of contacts to enable us to progress further into the industry. BIMM has been a constant in that network and the foundation of knowledge we gained has helped us over the years. Now we are progressing further with our careers we’re happy that BIMM has continued its support of us.”

 “The Artist Fund is another example of the amazing support that BIMM offers its alumni. It shows their confidence in our efforts and it helps to make our plans that much more attainable. We’re chuffed!”

 “Thank you BIMM. This is going to help us immensely. We are very proud of our BIMM roots and are delighted we can now finish our second album. We promise you will see results very soon. Thank you so much!”

As an independent artist, receiving funding is a huge help. BIMM have been an incredible support along the way and I am made up to have received funding towards my project.”
