An Incredible Year for Joe Dolman

6 December, 2017

BIMM Brighton graduate Joe Dolman has been riding a wave of success in recent months, so we thought it only appropriate that we caught up with the talented young songsmith to take stock on all he’s been up to this year and to see what he has in store for 2018.

Having recently graduated, Songwriting alumnus Joe has been busy throwing himself headfirst into his music at every opportunity. He recently completed a UK tour supporting The Enemy frontman Tom Clarke and he’s garnered an impressive online following, with 50,000+ monthly listeners on his Spotify channel, thanks in-part to the release of his latest single, “Something Beautiful’.

Aside from his support tours, Joe’s also experienced growing success performing under his own steam. His own recent UK headline tour saw him make appearances in Nottingham, London, Brighton, Leamington Spa, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Glasgow. But if you missed it, fear not! He’ll be heading back out again on another UK headline tour in March 2018.

Joe reflects on all he’s accomplished in 2017:

“This year has been incredible for me! I’ve had some ups and downs along the way, but I feel like I’ve achieved a lot to be proud of. There’s been much touring this year, some of the best shows were whilst I was out on support for Tom Clarke, as well as my headline gigs. Especially enjoyable were the shows of mine that were sold out; that felt like a real step up as they were bigger venues and we sold a few of them out in advance. When I played those sold-out shows I could feel a much stronger buzz from the crowd, like they felt more lucky to be there and have tickets which was really exciting!”

With such a productive 12 months behind him, and as 2017 draws to a close, the time has now come for Joe to turn his attention to what next year holds for him.

“2018 has a lot in store – more touring, a handful of new single releases while I work on my debut album and I’m playing a couple of gigs in Sweden & Denmark in January but plan to stay out there most of the month to have some time away from the busy life back in the UK and focus on writing.”

With these creative plans firmly in place, it’s worth noting that Joe is also taking care of business – As we speak, he is just about to sign a management contract for the very first time. Following trials with a handful of different managers, he’s now found the right one to work alongside his current booking agent. And as any creative person knows, having someone on board to take care of admin is a massive help, leaving more time to focus on crafting those all-important songs.

We look forward to hearing more news on Joe’s debut album, tour dates and, now he has a full-time manager, perhaps even a potential record deal!
