Volker Meitz

Music Production Lecturer

Volker is a keyboard player, producer and engineer with an eclectic stylistic range. He holds a Master’s degree in Audio Engineering from Berlin Technical University, and teaches everything from music theory to electronics. Over the years he’s played with acts as diverse as live drum ‘n’ bass band Analogue Freestyle, singer-songwriters Erik Penny, Astrid North and Clara Hill, and producer collective Jazzanova. He’s also shared the stage with household names like Temptations, Alexander O’Neal and Chuck Loeb.

In the studio, Volker has worked with 4Hero, DJ Dixon, The Krauts, Popol Vuh, Femi Kuti, Lisa Bassenge, and many more. His own bands include the free jazz formation Projekt Schwedt, electro-dub-jazz act Eric Schaefer & The Shredz, the 15 piece Sonar Kollektiv Orchester and the broken beat project Meitz. Volker also curated and organised Berlin Solo Impro - the first Berlin based music festival dedicated to solo improvisation - in 2018.
