Tim Robinson

Module Leader

Tim spent many years as a full-time drummer, performing and recording in an eclectic range of musical styles, from rock and pop to bluegrass, African pop, Welsh-language reggae and much else besides. He has toured a dozen times in North America, as well as numerous trips to Europe and gigs all over the UK. He also spent several years as house drummer for a busy commercial studio, recording everything from Oscar-nominated animation to jingles for adverts.

For over 20 years Tim was a busy drum teacher in Cardiff and Bristol, and his growing interest in education led him to complete a Certificate of Teaching with the ABRSM in 2000, followed in 2004 by the start of a PhD in music education at the University of Sheffield, which he completed in 2010.

Tim started work at BIMM Bristol in 2013 as Module Leader for Research Methods. He completed BIMM’s PGCert in 2017, and in the same year started work as a Senior Tutor on the same course. He is currently a Postgraduate Principal Lecturer, running both the Action Research module on the PGCert and the Dissertation module on BIMM Bristol’s Masters in Learning and Teaching in the Creative Industries.
