Music Business Lecturer *
Lecturer in Music Meldra Guza BA (Hons) MBA PGCert SLMDA FHEA FCMI CMgr is a UK-based Professional Development Mentor, a Senior Lecturer at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, the Author of Quadrilateral Code and Director of The SongLab Ltd.
With a specialism in business and entrepreneurship focusing on both personal and professional development mentoring, Meldra’s work also extends to the creative industries and in particular the music industry.
Meldra has over 20 years experience of working in the creative industries, having started her career in her native Latvia as a nationally recognised recording artist and songwriter that was featured in numerous media outlets, including Forbes Magazine, Cosmopolitan and FHM. She then went on to study in the UK where gained her BA(hons) in Music Performance before signing a management deal and moving to Los Angeles on a two-year work visa as a songwriter for television projects. Within her music portfolio, Meldra has taken on the role of composer for other recording artists and has attended various major songwriting camps throughout Europe. Meldra also has been hugely active as a session musician and has performed at venues such as Wembley Stadium, O2 Arena London, the London Palladium and the Key Club in Los Angeles and in television shows such as The Graham Norton Show, The Brit Awards and Good Morning Britain whilst performing as a musician for the likes of Sir Rod Stewart and Ce Lo Green amongst others.
As the managing director at The SongLab Meldra works with emerging music professionals as well as consults established professionals in their further career development pursuits. As a senior business, entrepreneurship and personal development lecturer at BIMM University, Meldra supports Higher Education and master students in developing their unique skills to create sustainable careers in the industry. Recently Meldra has contributed a chapter on Portfolio Careers to the textbook, The Music Business for Music Creators by Jonny Amos (Released by Routledge / Taylor & Francis in 2024).
Following her MBA studies, Meldra has developed the Quadrilateral Code- a current, relevant, timeless framework enabling a cohesive, non-fragmented approach to self-development and maximisation of time and potential. Being an active Fellow of Chartered Managers Institute and Fellow of Higher Education Academy further highlights Meldra’s professional values and their transferability to Corporate, Creative, Educational as well as community outreach environments.
