Maryam (also known as Mazzy) is an award-winning events and marketing professional who co-runs local events and marketing agency Bread Birmingham Ltd. She began as an independent promoter in 2002 with her promotions brand & fanzine 'Chicks dig Jerks' at the then newly opened The Sunflower Lounge bringing over up and coming bands from America and Europe.
Later she managed and promoted shows for acts such as Snoop Dogg, Adele, Bruno Mars, Wu-Tang Clan and many more whilst working as In-house Promoter at HMV Institute (now The O2 Institute - Birmingham). She also managed & programed festival venues including the super-fun ‘Botanical Disco’ at Shambala Festival. She began guest lecturing in 2009 in subjects such as media, the music industry, PR, events and more.
Maryam was a co-founder of ‘The Night Owl’ live music and club venue which launched in 2015 and started up marketing and events agency 'Bread Birmingham Ltd’ with business partner Alex Powell in 2017.
Maryam and her team have created and produced countless unique events from immersive ‘Stranger Things’ parties to events themed around cities from around the world. Worked with global brands, grassroots venues, festivals, and much more.
Maryam has Project and Production Managed Peace One Day's films and global digital hybrid events Peace Day, Anti Racism Live, Climate Action Live and films in multiple global markets for companies such as Avon and Uber. The events include VIPS from young change-makers, UN Ambassadors, Peacekeepers, Actors, Bands and so on from around the world. The films include themes such as Respect, Domestic Abuse Awareness and Breast Cancer Awareness.
Maryam’s other interests include DJing, hosting a monthly radio show, music, films, tv and reading. She has DJed at festivals and venues across the UK and most recently at the red-carpet premiere of Steven Knight’
