Chris Childs
Bass Guitar Lecturer
Chris Childs is a bass guitar Lecturer at BIMM Birmingham, on our BMus(Hons) Popular Music Performance degree.
Since 1996 Chris has been a member of the legendary UK rock band Thunder, adding his own individual style of playing to hundreds of shows and numerous albums. Aside from his long-running tenure in Thunder, Chris’ performance and tour credits include Paul Young, Then Jericho, Samantha Fox, Lulu, Roger Daltrey, Russ Ballard, Don Airey and Ultimate Eagles.
He’s appeared on albums alongside world-class bass players such as Nathan East, Pino Palladino and Abraham Laboriel and has been featured on the cover of Bass Player magazine. His signature model, ‘Enigma’ bass from Sandberg Guitars, has won 4 and 5-star reviews from media outlets worldwide.
Chris has worked on various other music and entertainment industry projects - from film, radio and television sessions to West End theatre productions in recording studios and stadium rock venues. Chris also records and produces albums for various artists, with a wealth of mixing, mastering and graphic design skills at his disposal.
