Universal Music UK Sound Foundation Bursary
Supporting the next generation of music talent
The Universal Music UK Sound Foundation (UMUKSF) is an independent music education charity, established in 1997 to celebrate the centenary of EMI Records and now generously supported by Universal Music.
The Foundation’s mission is to improve access to music education across the UK & Ireland, helping young people pursue their passion for music, regardless of background or circumstance.
As part of this mission, UMUKSF is proud to offer a £2,200 bursary to support one undergraduate music student at each of BIMM Music Institute’s UK campuses.
This bursary is a one-time award to help ease the cost of tuition and support your journey into the music industry.
What’s on Offer?
- £2,200 tuition fee reduction
- One bursary per BIMM UK campus
- Awarded for the 2025/26 academic year only (non-renewable)
- Recipients will be asked to share a short reflection with UMUKSF at the end of the year, describing the impact of the bursary.

Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, you must:
- Be enrolling on an undergraduate music performance or songwriting course at BIMM Music Institute UK campus (Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, London, or Manchester) for the 2025/26 academic year;
- Be under 25 years old at the start of the academic year;
- Be a UK resident eligible for Home tuition fees;
- Have a demonstrated financial need (evidenced through your Student Finance application).
How to Apply
If you’re interested in applying for the 2025/26 UMUKSF Bursary:
- Complete the Application Form below.
- Your application will be reviewed by a panel including the Associate Dean: Access and Participation and your campus Head of School.
- One successful applicant will be selected per campus based on eligibility and need.
