Launchpad Bursary

Opening doors for underrepresented talent in music

The Launchpad Bursary is designed to help talented students from underrepresented backgrounds access creative industries education and take the next step towards their future careers.

Available to 10 students each year across BIMM Music Institute’s UK campuses, the bursary provides a reduction in tuition fees throughout the duration of study.

What’s included?

Successful applicants will receive a reduction in tuition fees equivalent to one-third of their total tuition fee. For undergraduate degrees, this will normally be applied as:

  • Year 1: 50% tuition fee reduction
  • Year 2: 30% tuition fee reduction
  • Year 3: 20% tuition fee reduction

For programmes of different lengths, an equivalent level of support will be applied so that recipients receive a tuition fee reduction equivalent to one-third of their total tuition fees over the duration of their programme.

Who is Eligible?

The Launchpad Bursary is designed to support students from underrepresented backgrounds and help remove barriers to higher education. It aims to ensure that talented creatives have the opportunity to develop their skills, build industry connections and realise their ambitions.

You’ll automatically be entered into the Launchpad Bursary draw if you successfully enrol on an undergraduate, postgraduate or CertHE course at BIMM Music Institute and meet one or more of the following criteria:

Low-income household

Your combined household income, as assessed by the Student Loans Company (SLC), is £28,000 per year or less. To be eligible, you must have completed your student finance application.

Global Majority

You identify as being from a Global Majority background. For the purposes of this bursary, eligibility will be assessed using the ethnicity information provided on your UCAS or direct application.

Disability or long-term health condition

You have a disability, chronic illness or long-term mental health condition. Eligibility will be based on the information provided in your UCAS or direct application, or through evidence of a Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) award.

Meet more than one eligibility category?

You’ll receive an additional entry into the draw for each eligibility category that applies to you, increasing your chances of being selected. However, each student can receive a maximum of one Launchpad Bursary award.

Up to 10 students are selected at the start of the academic year through a random draw from eligible students who successfully enrol at BIMM Music Institute.

Application process

There is no separate application process for the Launchpad Bursary.

If you successfully enrol on an eligible course and meet one or more of the eligibility categories, you’ll automatically be entered into the bursary draw. Up to 10 students are selected at random at the start of the 2026 academic year and contacted directly.

Other Forms of Support

Recipients of the Launchpad Bursary are also eligible for the Fair Access Fund, if they meet the criteria. Neither the Launchpad Bursary nor the Fair Access Fund affects eligibility for student loans.
