Creative Musicianship Summer Camp
Our Creative Musicianship Summer Camp part-time course helps students build confidence, develop their musical skills, and gain access to our state-of-the-art facilities while learning from experienced industry professionals.
Whether you’re a budding musician, aspiring producer or songwriter, or simply looking to refine your craft, our summer programmes provide the perfect opportunity to kickstart or enhance your musical journey.
No prior experience is required, making this course ideal for beginner musicians, songwriters, and anyone interested in developing their creative and technical skills.

By the end of the camp, you’ll have enhanced your musical ability, developed practical industry skills, and gained greater confidence navigating the world of music.
Instrumental Stream
Instrumental Skills
These sessions are all about building confidence and developing skills on your chosen instrument. Students will explore different styles of music, improve their technique, and learn the fundamentals of playing as part of a band in a fun and supportive environment.
No formal musical training is needed. Led by lecturers who are top music industry experts, students will be guided step-by-step through the core practical workshops, group playing, and creative exercises designed to help everyone progress at their own pace.
Pre-Production and Rehearsal Skills
Great live performances start in the rehearsal room. In these workshops, students will learn the basics of how bands prepare songs, rehearse together, and communicate as a group. Through guided rehearsal sessions, students will build confidence, improve their listening skills, and learn how to work creatively with other musicians. These sessions are designed to be accessible and supportive, even for students with limited performance experience.
Live Performance
These live performance sessions give students the chance to get on stage and perform with other musicians in a relaxed and encouraging setting. Students will rehearse and perform contemporary music while developing stage presence, confidence, and teamwork skills. Tutors will support students throughout the week, helping them understand the fundamentals of live performance while building confidence and enjoying the excitement of making music with others.
Songwriting Stream
Songwriting Techniques
These workshops introduce students to the exciting world of songwriting. Students will explore the fundamentals of lyric writing, melody, song structure, and creative ways to turn ideas into original songs.
Through active and fun writing exercises and group activities, students will build confidence in their creativity while discovering their own style as songwriters.
Live Arrangement and Performance
Writing a song is just the beginning. In these sessions, students will learn the basics of arranging music for live performance and how different instruments and performance ideas help bring songs to life.
Working with other students, participants will rehearse and perform original music while developing confidence, teamwork, and live performance skills in a supportive environment.
Digital Audio Workstation Recording
These workshops introduce students to recording and producing music using Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs). Students will learn the fundamentals of recording audio, using virtual instruments, and creating their own music using industry-standard software.
Designed for beginners as well as developing musicians, these sessions provide a fun and practical introduction to modern music production and recording techniques.
Music Production Stream
Digital Audio Workstation Production
These sessions give students a hands-on introduction to modern music production. Students will learn the fundamentals of beat making, arranging tracks, editing audio, and using effects and virtual instruments to create music.
No previous production experience is needed. Through creative projects and practical workshops, students will build confidence while exploring how producers create the sound of modern music.
Studio Skills
These workshops introduce students to the basics of studio recording. Students will learn how microphones, recording equipment, and studio setups are used to capture professional-quality music. Practical activities will give students the chance to work with real studio equipment while developing an understanding of how recording sessions work in professional studios.
Live Sound Production
These sessions explore the exciting world of live sound and events. Students will learn the fundamentals of how live sound systems work, how equipment is set up, and how sound engineers manage audio during performances. Through hands-on activities, students will use microphones, mixing desks, and PA systems while building technical confidence and teamwork skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Entry requirements
Minimum Age: 14 at the start of the course.
This course is open enrolment and there are no specific academic entry requirements.
In order to get the most out of the course, you should be able to both speak and write in English to a reasonable standard.
Please be aware that we have a limited number of places available for each course intake and operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
