Your summer in music starts here

Calling all guitarists, bassists, drummers, vocalists and aspiring producers: Create and connect with like-minded musicians, singers and producers at our fantastic summer schools.

Each year at BIMM, we run a range of summer schools for musicians & producers aged 11-17 looking to develop their technique, their confidence as live performers or simply to just have fun. So, if you’re a guitarist, vocalist, bassist drummer, or producer, a BIMM Summer School is a great way to spend your break.

We run a variety of courses for all genres and tastes of music, so whether you love indie, pop, R&B, rock and metal or electronic music, there’s a summer school for you.

Each summer school is a five-day week and consists of:

  • dedicated tuition for your chosen discipline
  • live performance workshops on stage for performers
  • access to music software and hardware for producers to hone your skills
  • a different special guest each day.

Each of our Summer Schools costs £299 for the whole week. Bursaries are also available, please read below for more details. 


Where can I attend a BIMM Summer School?

Rock & Metal Summer School - 1st-5th August 2022

This course is perfect for all the guitarists, bassists, drummers and vocalists who love metal, hard rock and punk.

Music Production Summer School- 1st-5th August 2022

Aspiring producers can get their hands on some of the latest hardware and software on this course and learn how to create digital music.

Pop & Contemporary Indie Summer School - 8th-12th August 2022

If you’re a guitarist, bassist, drummer or vocalist looking to top the charts with your music, this course is right up your street.

2022 BIMM Summer Schools Participation Bursary

As part of the BIMM Institutes’ commitment to Access and Participation, we offer a Participation Bursary for eligible applicants, to cover the cost of attending our Summer Schools. If you think you might be eligible for a free place, please read the below.

A Participation Bursary offered as part of our Access and Participation Plan, provides financial support to those living in low-income households, and/or from a care experienced background, enabling participation in the BIMM Summer Schools by providing a full bursary to cover the course cost, travel, lunch and access to instruments where needed. This is a fantastic opportunity to get a taste of BIMM life and to find out what it is like to study a music course at BIMM.

The Participation Bursary is for UK residents between the ages of 11 and 17 years with full consent from their parent and/or guardian.

You must also meet ONE of these criteria to be eligible;

  • Be in care, a recent care leaver or care experienced
  • Live in a household that receives income assessed benefits; (these include; free school meals, income support, income-related job seekers allowance, income-related employment and support allowance, carers allowance, universal credit, local authority housing benefit, council tax support)
  • Live in a household with an annual income of less than £25,000

Every applicant must provide evidence that demonstrates their eligibility. The Bursary cannot be awarded if supporting evidence is not provided. Participation Bursary places are limited and assessed at the deadline date. Late applications will not be considered. 

If you believe you are eligible, please make sure you tick the ‘Eligible for a Bursary’ box on the application form and an Access and Participation Coordinator will be in touch to assist you further.

 


International applicant guidance

According to the current Immigration rules in the UK, international visitors can undertake a short course for study in the UK on a Standard Visitor visa. Please see this document for more information.
