Course Leader – Professional Musicianship

Paul is a graduate of Leeds College of Music, where he gained a Graduate Diploma in Jazz and Contemporary Music (Hons) and has gone on to gain a PhD focussing on popular music performance, tuition and composition within Higher Education.

Alongside this, he continues to work as a freelance performer, composer, and producer, incorporating performances within a variety of settings, both nationally and internationally. Notable achievements include both stage and studio sessions with many renowned musicians whose credits include, BB king, Paul McCartney, Ray Charles, BBC Big Band, Amy Winehouse and many others.

Whether it’s sessions, tours, TV, radio, live, lecture halls, seminars or workshops, Paul’s career has spanned genres, settings, research projects and academic posts. He is also co-inventor of ‘Thepegmate’ a tuning aid for orchestral stringed instruments.
